Louise Marshall Lightcap, 90, of Indiana, formerly of Home, PA, died Tuesday, July 11, 2017 while at Indian Haven.

The daughter of Earl and Vada (Smith) Marshall, Louise was born October 6, 1926 in South Mahoning Township, Indiana County, PA.

Louise was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church of Indiana and forever in her heart, a member of the Washington Presbyterian Church of Home.  She was strong in faith, put her family first and worked alongside her husband, Bill, on their farm for many years.  Prior to her marriage, Louise worked at Hess’s Restaurant in Indiana, a defense plant in Indiana making hand grenades during WWII, the Sylvania Plant in Emporium and she was also a former Rayne Township Auditor.

Louise was a generally quiet, thoughtful woman with an infectious smile.  She enjoyed gardening, travel, playing cards and was always ready for a competitive game of Parchesi.

“A strong woman knows she has strength enough for the journey, but a woman of strength knows it is on the journey that she will become strong” -Luke Easter.  As the last of her generation on both sides of the family, both Marshall and Lightcap, Louise has been a steady and supportive member to each branch of the family tree in times of joy, as well as times of sorrow.

Louise leaves behind three daughters and three sons-in-law, Karen and Chuck Tonkin of Home, PA, Kathi and Larry Breweur of Durham, NC, and Norma and Bill Lockhart of Smicksburg, PA; four grandchildren, Troy Tonkin and wife, Christy, Erin Lockhart, Matthew Lockhart and wife, Breanne, and Michael Lockhart.  Two great-granddaughters complete the family circle.  Louise will also be missed by her friends and numerous nieces and nephews who knew and loved her.

In addition to her parents, Louise was preceded in death by her loving husband of 50 years, William Lightcap, who died June 17, 1998; a brother, Harold Marshall; a sister, Dorothy Hamill Wall; twenty sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law.

Relatives and friends will be received on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the John A. Lefdahl Funeral Home, Indiana.  An additional hour of viewing will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. on Saturday with funeral service to immediately in the Lefdahl Chapel with Rev. Greg Golden, officiating.

Interment will follow at the Washington Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Home, PA.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Washington Church Cemetery Association or Meals on Wheels of Indiana, PA.
