Irene Taylor Crissman

August 16, 1941 ~ January 10, 2017 (age 75) 75 Years Old

Irene Taylor Crissman, 75, Indiana, passed away January 10, 2017 at the Allegheny General Hospital as a result of a brain aneurysm.

Born Irene Dorothy Taylor on August 16, 1941 in New York City, she was the daughter of James Taylor and Pauline (Wolgemuth) Taylor.

Irene’s father had passed away in 1981 while a resident in New York City, after which his wife Pauline moved to Indiana, PA and was a resident of Clairvaux Commons for 20+ years while spending the last two years of her life at the Communities of Indian Haven

Irene had many loves in her life of which her first love was her love for God whom with she had a direct connection.  Secondly, was the love she felt for her family.  As a devoted wife and mother, Irene would spend as much time as possible with those she loved, especially her granddaughters.

Mrs. Crissman began her career with the John F. Kennedy International Airport in 1961 for the US Weather Bureau.  After marrying Jim (whom she loved deeply) they moved to Clearfield, PA where they lived until moving to Indiana in 1969.  She was a stay at home mom until her boys entered school and then she worked for Chester Kaufman, MD, Charles Petit, MD and Bernard Coppolo, Jr, MD.  In addition to working at these medical practices, she always enjoyed volunteering for various local churches, Communities of Indian Haven, and the Salvation Army, to name a few.  She enjoyed playing the piano, bridge, dulcimer, needlepoint, knitting, and reading.  In combination, all of these passions and loves, allowed her to develop many deep, lasting friendships that Irene cherished.  Irene possessed a friendly, outgoing, and compassionate personality that many found inspirational through the years.  It was a privilege and honor to have her in our lives and she will be sadly missed by family and friends.

Surviving is her husband, James Truman Crissman, Jr., Indiana; sons, James Truman Crissman, III, Wilmington, NC and Daniel Robert Crissman and his wife, Jennifer Levicke (Renee) Crissman, Hatfield, PA; grandchildren, Jessica Renee, Rebecca Nicole, and Elizabeth Irene Crissman, all of Hatfield, PA.

Preceding Irene in death were her parents.

Funeral arrangements will be private and under the direction of the John A. Lefdahl Funeral Home, Indiana.
