Robert Scholfield, Sr., 77, Indiana, PA passed away to be with his Lord on Thursday, October 20, 2016.

The son of Sherman and Coral (Jennings) Scholfield, he was born April 8, 1939 in Heilwood, PA.

Having served diligently as a member, pianist, and finance chair member at Faith Temple Church of God in Christ, Indiana, PA, he became Pastor at Pilgrim Church of God in Christ, Johnstown, PA.

Pastor Scholfield became the first African-American to hold the position of supervisor in the history of IUP.  He was named handicapped employee of the year by the Pennsylvania Department of Education around 1975.  It was also noted that he was responsible for the increase of African-American employees by 100 percent. 

Surviving is his wife, Brazyella (Peaches) Scholfield, Indiana; his children, Robert Scholfield, Jr and wife, Jolynn, and their children, Heather and Rachel, Blairsville, PA; Rosalind Scholfield Lindsay and her children, Thomas, Joshua, and Richard Lindsay, Pittsburgh, PA, Mary Kendrick, Claudette (Phillip) Grimes, Catherine Key, Marvelle (John) Johnson, and a host of friends, cousins, and beloved friends.

Preceding Pastor Scholfield in death were his parents; grandparents, Reese and Katie Scholfield; uncles, William, Nathan, Marvin, Brice, and Claude Scholfield; aunts, Pauline (Ben) Gerideau, Beatrice Scholfield, Estella Scholfield, and Bertha Scholfield.

Friends and family will be received on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the John A. Lefdahl Funeral Home and additional hour of visitation will be held Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Faith Temple Church of God in Christ with Bishop Loran Mann as celebrant.

Interment in the Oakland Cemetery will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Chevy Chase Community Center.
