Donald E. Smith, 28, El Paso, TX, passed away Wednesday, September 14, 2016 in Texas.

The son of Jeffrey Don Smith, he was born February 16, 1988 in Annapolis, MD.

Donald was a 2006 graduate of Penns Manor High School where he played varsity football. After graduation he was employed as an apprentice for Iron Workers Local #3 in Pittsburgh. At age 20, Donald entered the military choosing the Army as his branch of service.   He obtained the rank of Specialist and was presented with the following medals over his eight years of service: National Defense Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Afghanistan Commendation Medal and Commendation Star, Achievement Medal, Global War on Terrorism Medal, (2) Good Conduct Medals, Korean Defense Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Over Seas Ribbon and the NATO Medal.

 He was a first degree black belt, which he earned from Young Brothers Taekwondo in Indiana.  Don loved to play video games and liked any type of fast vehicles.  Don will be remembered as a loving father, son, big brother and uncle. He will be deeply missed by both family and friends.

Surviving are his father, Jeffrey Don Smith and stepmother, Deborah, Indiana; wife, Chelsea Myers-Smith, and daughter, Kendall Smith, Williamsport; three sisters, Kristin Smith, Clymer, Morgan and Kennedy Smith, both of Penn Run; step siblings, Kory Graff and his wife Breanna, Clune, and Karlyn Graff, AZ; paternal grandparents, Donald J. and Patricia Smith, Creekside; step-grandmother, Cheryl Pfeiffer, Marion Center; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and his numerous military family members.

He was preceded in death by paternal great-grandparents, Leroy and Annabelle Smith; and a step-grandfather, Delmont H. Pfeiffer.

Friends will be received on Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. at the John A. Lefdahl Funeral Home.  An additional hour of visitation will be held Thursday morning from 10 to 11 am with funeral service to immediately follow in the Lefdahl Chapel with Rev. Paul Wallace,officiating.  Interment with full military rites will follow in the Oakland Cemetery.
