Death in an Institution: When death occurs in a hospital or nursing home, let their staff know to call the John A Lefdahl Funeral Home at 724-463-4499. The medical staff will take care of the necessary paperwork to release the body and if not present at the time of death, will notify you first in the event you would want to see your loved one prior to transport to the funeral home.

Anticipated death at home: Today more people prefer to die at home under the care of Hospice when they suffer from a terminal illness. In this situation advise Hospice that you wish to choose the John A Lefdahl Funeral Home. When your loved one dies, notify Hospice and they will come to your home to pronounce your family member and then call us at 724-463-4499.
Many times when someone has a terminal condition the family will make prearrangements in advance so they will not be overwhelmed at the time of death.

Unanticipated death at home or elsewhere: In these situations immediately call 911. Trained medical people or police will then response and determine the appropriate steps to take.

We will then coordinate funeral plans with a funeral director in that area in order to transport your loved one back to our facility, and secure all the proper permits and consents needed.
