William H. Alabran, 91 of Smicksburg, peacefully passed away at his home with his family members by his side on Thursday December 25, 2025. William was in hospice care through Concordia IRMC VNA.
He was born August 28, 1934 to Frank and Martha (Craig) Alabran in Smicksburg.
On November 12, 1955 he married Shirley M. Cochran, daughter of Russell and Ruby Cochran. They were married for 70 years, had two sons Jeffrey and Douglas, five grandchildren and three great grandchildren. He worked in construction for many years and then went to work at Wood Pontiac for the next 47 years, where he became the service manager until his retirement. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and attending their sporting events, whether home or away, even out of state. He loved to hunt and got to enjoy hunting with his son’s and with a few of his grandchildren later in life. He loved to work in his shop, help out at the Coon’s farm and just spend time with his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Ruby McIntyre, Betty Irwin, two sisters-in-law Bessie Alabran, Ruth Neal, three brothers-n-law Wayne Irwin, Wendell Neal and Ralph Coon, his father and mother-in-law Russell and Ruby Cochran.
In accordance with his wishes there will be no visitation. A private burial will take place with Pastor Mark Brady officiating.
The John A. Lefdahl Funeral Home, Indiana, has been entrusted with the arrangements.
