Thomas Raymond Rhine, 78, of Brush Valley passed away peacefully on November 12, 2024 at Scenery Hill Nursing Home. Born on January 21, 1946 in Indiana, he was the son of Thelma (Vensel) and Jay Raymond Rhine.
Tom was a 1963 graduate of United High School. He worked at the U.S. Postal Service before serving in the United States Army as Military Police, then attended Mansfield University. He retired from Helen Mines where he served as the local union secretary. His hobbies included reading, traveling, gardening and bowling. He also enjoyed going to family parties and attending his nieces’ and nephews’ sporting events.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Paula Elkin, brother-in-law David Kitzmiller, nephew Jeremy Kitzmiller, great-niece Emily Fabin, and brother-in-law Daniel Shull.
He is survived by sisters Judy (Mike) Hancher, Cindy (Bob) Watta, Linda Kitzmiller, Joyce Shull and brother-in-law Sam Elkin. Also surviving are nieces and nephews Dave (Brandi) Elkin, Beth (Dan) Fabin, Adrienne (Bill) Shipe, Nathan (Sarah) Elkin, Janessa (Frank) Stancato, Chad Hancher (Lauren Portwood), Justin Hancher (Kaalyn Zizus), Brittany (Bill) Beck, Darcy Shull (Tyler Lopez), Elliott Shull, 19 great-nieces and -nephews, special aunts Alma Rhine and Ada Wymer, and many beloved cousins.
Visitation will take place at the John A. Lefdahl Funeral Home on Saturday, November 16, 2024 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm with a memorial service to follow in the chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to ICCAP, 827 Water Street, Indiana, PA 15701 or Chevy Chase Community Center, 640 N 5th Street, Indiana, PA 15701
