April 22, 1934 ~ January 24, 2023 (age 88) 88 Years Old

Stella Montgomery Obituary

Stella May Montgomery, 88, of Shelocta, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, January 24, 2023 while at the Communities at Indian Haven.  Stella and her husband Carl lived in their own home until December of this year. 

The daughter of Rev. Blair and Grace (Livingston) Lydick, she was born April 22, 1934 in Indiana, PA.

Stella was a devout Christian who shared her love of Jesus with everyone she met.

Stella wed Robert Carlton “Carl” Montgomery on June 24, 1950 at the Presbyterian Church in Shelocta, PA.  They enjoyed traveling the country, visiting every state except Missouri and Hawaii.   She loved sharing her love of travel and the outdoors with her family and took many family vacations with her children and grandchildren.   

Stella enjoyed getting her hair and nails done at Shear Stylin, Elderton, PA and having lunch at DoBros every Friday.

She loved collecting stones, rocks, and boulders from her travels for her flower gardens.  She also loved collecting magnets from family travels.  She enjoyed living a simple life on the family farm. 

She is survived by her husband of 72 years, Robert Carlton Montgomery; their children,  HOPE Condrick, Elderton, PA, Robin Carlton Montgomery (Debbie), Shelocta, PA, Leisa FAITH Bruner (Randy), Shelocta, PA,  Carla CHARITY Frazee (Steve), Friendsville, MD; 12 grandchildren, Dan Kelly (Lavonne), Melanie Reefer (Greg), Angel Deyarmin (Mark), Toni Testut (Dan), Valerie Quarles (Justin), Ryan Montgomery (Amy), Justin Staron (Stephanie),  Joshua Staron, Evan Frazee (Hannah), Rachel Warnick (Royce), Clay Frazee and Caleb Frazee; 14 great-grandchildren, Rachel Rae and Hope Kelly, Zane Goldstrohm, Shannon King, Jeffrey Deyarmin, Tristan, Travis and Danielle Testut, Connor and Aidan Quarles, Jack Montgomery,  Andrew, Luke and Kaley Staron; 4 great-great-grandchildren, Scarlet Rae, Emma and Cora King, and Emerson Deyarmin.

Stella was preceded in death by her parents, Rev. Blair and Grace Lydick; siblings, Clyde Lydick, Butch Lydick, Margaret Mihalick, Dora Lawrence and Jean Stothard; and a son-in-law, Ronald Condrick.

Friends will be received on Monday from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. at the John A. Lefdahl Funeral Home.  A funeral service will immediately follow in the Lefdahl Chapel with Pastors Dick Motzing and Pastor Bill Fish, officiating.

Interment will follow in the Elderton Cemetery.
