Rodney Lewis Hankinson, 75, Indiana, passed away January 14, 2024, at home with his family by his side.


The son of Gene and Nellie (Kessler) Hankinson, he was born January 9, 1949 in Indiana.


Rodney graduated from Marion Center Area High School, where his love of sports began. He was a die-hard Raiders fan. He loved watching NASCAR, and collecting memorabilia. Rodney enjoyed spending time with his family watching a game or just visiting, but always made sure to make time for mowing the grass.


Rodney was manager of Monro Muffler for many years. Before that he worked at Montgomery Ward, and Robert Shaw, where he met his wife.


A heart and kidney transplant recipient, Rodney was able to spend an additional 18 years with his family.


Rodney is survived by his wife, Sally (Galo) Hankinson, Indiana; children, Melanie (Pat) Burns, Lansdale, PA, Eric (Farrah) Hankinson, Indiana, and Bradley (Liz) Hankinson, Damascus, MD; and his grandchildren, Chasity (Matt) Janosko, Greensburg, PA; Cage, Cobe, Calen, and Camry Hankinson, all of Indiana; and Sarah, Sean, and Megan Burns, all of Lansdale.


Preceding Rodney in death were his parents; granddaughter, Isabelle Burns; and sister, Loretta Wood.


Funeral arrangements will be private and entrusted to the John A Lefdahl Funeral Home.
