Norma “Diane” (Snyder) Johnston, 82, Indiana, died Saturday, May 9, 2020, at her residence.
The daughter of Grant and Leatha (Neal) Snyder, she was born June 26, 1937 in Creekside, PA.
Diane was a graduate of Marion Center High School. She had been employed 18 years by Woolworth.
Diane led a busy life, volunteering for Marion Center High School band and their reading program. She also volunteered to help the disabled students at the Indiana Junior and Senior High School.
Diane was a foster parent as well for infants, a 4H leader and she also found time to enjoy canning, baking pies, reading, and gardening. One of her greatest pleasures was chaperoning the M.C. band to Ireland in 1975
Surviving are her children, Karen (William) Guthridge, Clearfield, Kathy Johnston and her significant other, David Speranza, Clarksburg, and Kolleen Johnston, Indiana; ten grandchildren, Donald, Steven, and Alicia Guthridge, Matthew and Dana Speranza, Brandin Filkosky, Leslie Speranza, Jolene Wensel, William Hilty JR., and Bethany Hilty; ten great grandchildren; twin sisters, Peggy H. (David) Bell, Greensburg and Polly (William) Filipovich II, Everett, PA.; and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding Diane in death were her parents; former husband, Donald Eugene Johnston who died in 2005; daughter, Kristina “Cheryl” Powell; brother, Blair Alton Snyder; and a nephew, Ryan Hill.
A private viewing and service will be held Wednesday for Diane with interment to follow in the Greenwood Cemetery.
