Michael McCoppin

He was born on July 3, 1982 in Columbus, Ohio to Charlie McCoppin and Suzie (Milner) Lakatosh.

Michael was a 2000 graduate of Homer Center High School.  He took his time getting the full college experience and after 7 long years, he earned his Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management from IUP in 2007.  Michael was a Specialist in the United States Army and was very proud of his service.  He loved traveling abroad, watching the Steelers, sport shooting, collecting cherry chapstick, overusing baby powder, scratching lottery tickets and spending quality time with this family and friends.  Michael touched many hearts in his short time here and taught us all how to laugh our way through life.  He believed that one act of kindness may not change the world, but it could change someone’s world.

Surviving is his mother, Suzie Lakatosh; stepfather, Larry Lakatosh; best girl, Kate Sedlock; brothers, Tim McCoppin and Joe (Rachel) McCoppin; sister, Katie “TT” (Adam) Woodrow; nephew, Landon McCoppin; niece, Season McCoppin; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Michael was preceded in death by his father, Charlie McCoppin; maternal grandparents, Kenny and Jimmie Milner; and paternal grandparents, Charles and Jean McCoppin.

Friends will be received on Monday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the John A. Lefdahl Funeral Home.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 10 a.m. at St. Bernard Roman Catholic Church, Indiana.  Committal with follow in St. Bernard Cemetery with Military Rites being provided by VFW Post 1989.
