Margaret Hazel Bates, 86, of Indiana, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, June, 18 2024 at her home.
She was born January 30, 1938 to James and Lola (Bevins) Bates, in Wise County Virginia.
She was a member of the First Church of God in Indiana. Maggie was a CNA at Indian Haven for 22 years before her retirement. She also worked for the VNA. Maggie enjoyed singing Gospel music, old fashion hymns and sharing her faith with others. She participated in the Pennsylvania State Singing Convention and local hymn sings. She enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family and friends.
She is survived by two children, a daughter Teresa M. Spearman, Indiana, a son Edward E. McLean, Creekside, three grandchildren, Jason Spearman (Sibilla Pirrone-Spearman), Indiana, Ryan Spearman (Madeline), Indiana, Rebecca Preston, VA, three great grandchildren, Alaina, Alisson, Roman Spearman, a brother Bobby L. Bates, VA, two sisters, Mary Ellen Thompson, and Nancy C. Wilkinson all of VA and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, an infant daughter, three infant siblings, a brother Gerald Bates, and good friend Ronald R. Barclay.
Friends will be received on Sunday from 2-4 PM on Sunday and also on Monday from 10:00 AM until the time of service at 11:00 AM at the John A. Lefdahl Funeral Home, 898 Old Hwy 119N, Indiana, PA 15701 with Pastor Matthew Lantz officiating.
Interment will take place at Greenwood Cemetery, Indiana.
