Lucinda Kathryn (George) Isenberg, 91, of Brush Valley, passed away on February 19th, 2026 at home on the family farm.
Born on August 21st, 1934 in Dilltown, she is survived by her husband, Jesse ‘Paul’ Isenberg, of 69 years. Lucinda wasn’t one to let tradition stand in her way; she was the one who proposed to Paul, a story that delights her family to no end.
Lucinda was a true example of ‘her personality precedes her.’ She was known for her toughness, sarcasm, love of people who would sass her back and the ability to fix anything with duct tape or binder twine. Her favorite place was the farm, driving her gator and wearing her signature orange ski mask and red jacket.
Lucinda was part of the Brush Valley Firehall Women’s Auxiliary for many years and often worked in the chicken BBQ tent at the Indiana County Fair.
She loved pulling out her film camera to capture special moments, bonfires at the farm, changing the rules to board games to her advantage and giving everyone single dollar bills for their birthday and telling them not to spend it all in one place…most of us still have them tucked away.
Grandma Cinda had a soft spot and always got excited about our report cards, made emergency repair kits for our cars when we started driving and took our late-night phone calls during college to ‘walk us home’ safely. And even though she grumbled, she let us bring an assortment of animals into her home, from racoons to kittens to hamsters, and even made a jacket out of a sock for a runt piglet. While she used to bake cookies, she preferred teaching us life skills that we will cherish forever: how to fish, hunt, ‘properly’ paint fence posts, garden, can and farm.
And her favorite closing line was, “I still love you.”
Also surviving her are her two children: Renea Isenberg and Bret (Alisa) Isenberg, of Brush Valley. Daughter-in-law: Donna Isenberg, of Marion Center. Two siblings: Donald Lee (Connie) George, of Sandy, Utah; and Larry (Chris) George, of Pittsburgh. She is also survived by 6 grandchildren: Israel (Cassandra) Isenberg, Noelle (Craig) Andrie, Nathan (Carrie) Smith, Brianna (Steve) Bond, Kelsey Isenberg and Jesse (Shyloh) Isenberg. 17 great-grandchildren. And of course, her ‘adopted’ daughter: Pat (Leonard) Isenberg.
Lucinda was preceded in death by her parents: Kathryn (Stewart) and Halcy George and her son: Keith Isenberg.
The family wishes to thank Lucinda’s amazing care team who loved her endlessly: Linda Adams for being Gram’s ‘buddy’ for the past 6.5 years; Julie Smith and Phyllis Schucolsky; and the hospice team of Dr. Klain, Darlene, and Kim.
The John A. Lefdahl Funeral Home will handle the arrangements. Friends and family will be received on Monday February 23 from 2 pm to 4 pm and 6 pm to 8 pm.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, February 24th at the Brush Valley Chapel with Pastor Joe Smith and Chaplain Lori Parks. Extra visitation will start at 10 am with the service to begin at 11 am, followed by the burial.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Brush Valley Chapel.
