Kathleen Greenawalt, beloved wife, mother, and matriarch, passed away peacefully on March 21, 2026, at the age of 84. Born in 1941 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Kathleen built a life defined by devotion — to her family, to her country, to her Irish roots, and to the beauty she found in every piece of glass she ever held up to the light.
She made her home for many years in Indiana, Pennsylvania, where most who knew and loved her remember her best. A proud homemaker, Kathleen poured herself into the lives of those around her — cooking, nurturing, and making every house a home filled with warmth and belonging.
Faith was a thread woven through much of Kathleen's life. Raised Catholic, she gave nearly twenty years of service to her church — a commitment that speaks to the values of duty and community that always guided her, even as her relationship with faith, like most things in a life fully lived, grew and changed over time.
Kathleen loved her country with a deep and unshakeable pride. She was the kind of woman who flew the flag with conviction and felt genuine gratitude for the nation she called home.
Proudly 100% Irish, Kathleen carried her heritage close to her heart throughout her life. Her love of Irish culture — its music, its warmth, its storytelling spirit, and the fierce loyalty it inspires — was woven into everything she did. It showed in the way she held her family together, the way she welcomed people in, and the deep sense of pride she took in where she came from.
Her passion for decorative and art glass was a joy she carried throughout her life. As an avid member of her local glass club, she found a community of kindred spirits who shared her appreciation for color, craft, and the way light moves through something beautiful. Her collection was a reflection of her eye, her patience, and her love of things made with care.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 55 years, Ray Greenawalt; her daughter Michele Greenawalt of Indiana, Pennsylvania; her sons Joseph Greenawalt of New Kent, Virginia, his wife Lisa, and their children Logan and Fallon; Stephen Greenawalt of Scottsdale, Arizona; and Greg Greenawalt of Corona, California, his wife Amy, and their son Adam; and her sisters Winnie, mother of Jessica and Matt, and Mary, mother of Mike, both of Bloomington, Illinois. She leaves behind a family that is larger, warmer, and more whole because of her.
Friends will be recieved from 9:00 AM until the time of service at 11:00 AM April 18, 2026, at the John A Lefdahl Funeral Home, Indiana.
The John A. Lefdahl Funeral Home of Indiana has been entrusted with the arrangements.
