Josephine Mary Stango, 87, Kent, passed away surrounded by her loving family on December 7, 2019 while at St. Andrew’s Village.
The daughter of Francesco “Frank” and Concetta (Filoromo) Giorgianni, she was born November 11, 1932 in San Pier Niceto, Italy.
Josephine was a member of the Church of the Good Shepherd Parish. She enjoyed attending the Aultman Senior Center, was a community activist, participated in local government and was often a lucky bingo player. She also enjoyed volunteering at her children’s school where she was president of the PTA for many years. She had a love of baking and shared her cookies and bread with many.
Surviving are her children, John (Theresa) Stango, Apollo, Teresa (Timothy) Stewart, Kent, Frank (Nancy) Stango, Greensburg, and Connie (Brian) Maust, Fairport, NY; grandchildren, John C. (DeAnna) Stango, Apollo; Joseph Stango, Apollo; Bethany (Doug) Ryan, Indiana; Paula (Derek) Cross, Homer City; Adam (Kara) Stewart, Saltsburg; Dominic and Anthony Stango, Greensburg; Andrew and Francesca Maust; Fairport, NY; great grandchildren, Nicali, Bently, Giovanni, and Christian Stango, Apollo; and Alexander Ryan, Indiana; sister, Sara (Anthony) Sottile, Indiana; brother, Barbaro “Bob” (Lenore) Giorgianni, Rose Valley; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Josephine was preceded in death by her loving husband of 55 years, August Stango; her parents, Francesco “Frank” and Concetta Giorgianni; sister, Pauline Lorenzi; infant sister, Catherine Giorgianni; and a grandson, Nicholas Stango.
Friends will be received on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the John A. Lefdahl Funeral Home. An additional hour of viewing will be held on Wednesday from 10 to 11am at the Church of the Good Shepherd in Kent. Mass will immediately follow in the church with Father Morelli as celebrant.
Interment will follow in the St. Bernard Cemetery.
