John E. Lambert

John E. Lambert, Jr.  76, passed away on Tuesday evening, March 25, 2025, following a lengthy illness.   John was born on August 17, 1948, in Indiana, PA, and spent the last 39 years living in Dublin, Ohio.

John is survived by his wife of 41 years, Mary Pat (Hughey).  He is predeceased by his parents, John E. and Madeline (Egan) Lambert.  Left to cherish and remember John are his three siblings, Robert (Kathie) Lambert, Peggy (Dana) Dudarchik and Mary Helm; as well as his in-laws Robert (Barb) Hughey, Suzanne Koerner, Janet (Robert) Tompkins, and Jim (Patty) Hughey.    He will also be greatly missed by his numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.   

John graduated from Indiana High School in 1966, received his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering in 1970 from the University of Missouri at Rolla, and his MBA from the University of Michigan in 1974.  He worked for Battelle Memorial Institute in Columbus, Ohio for 25 years before retiring.  During his tenure at Battelle, John was awarded five patents.  

John’s passion was playing tennis. When he wasn’t on the tennis court, he enjoyed golfing, working in the yard and tackling projects around his home.  John had an unquenchable thirst for knowledge, especially in the field of physics.  He and his wife made many good memories during their trip to Ireland since John was very proud of his Irish heritage.  

John was always willing to take on new opportunities and did everything with honesty and integrity. He had very strong values, was extremely kind and was well liked by everyone, mostly due to his positive attitude.

Friends will be received on Sunday, March 30, 2025, from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm; and Monday, March 31, 2025, from 11 am – 12 Noon at The John A. Lefdahl Funeral Home, 898 Old Route 119 N, Indiana, PA.  A memorial service will immediately follow visitation on Monday with internment at St. Bernard’s Cemetery. 

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations can be made to the Indiana County Humane Society or to the USTA Foundation.
