JoAnne S. Britcher

JoAnne S. Britcher, 64 of Indiana, passed away unexpectedly following a lengthy hospitalization.

Born on August 24, 1961, to Edward and Rebecca (Feicht) Shaw in Punxsutawney, JoAnne was a devoted wife, an amazing mother, and an incredible “Gigi” to all her grandchildren. JoAnne’s first passion in life was working with children. For 12 years, she worked as a substitute teacher in the Indiana Area School District teaching nearly every grade level. However, her love of elementary school kept her with those students most often. After leaving teaching, JoAnne moved over to IUP and supported students seeking their MBA through the Eberly College of Business.

JoAnne was an amazing cook, but her love of baking and her Christmas cookie platters was what she was known for. JoAnne was a diehard Pittsburgh Pirates fan watching each game nightly with her husband. 

To her family, she was known as “Gigi”. Her grandchildren were by far her greatest passion in life. FaceTime, watching Disney+, and spoiling all four of grandkids is what she lived for.

JoAnne was a member of St. Thomas More University Parish in Indiana.

JoAnne is survived by her loving husband Bob of 35 years. Her two sons Jordan (Marcy) of Fairfax, Va., and Patrick (Amanda) of Indiana, PA. Her four grandchildren that loved her dearly, Macyn, Emerson, Wyatt, and Myles. As well as her mom Rebecca Shaw of Punxsutawney, sisters Sharyn (Tim) of Tallmadge, Oh., Katie Reinard of Punxsutawney, and Susan McClafferty (Stacy) of Rural Valley. Along with many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her father.

Friends and family will be received on Friday, January 2, 2026, from 12:00 PM until the time of the prayer service at 4:00 PM at the John A. Lefdahl Funeral Home, 898 Old Route 119 N, Indiana, PA 15701
