James Calvin Smith, 77, Pittsburgh, died Thursday, July 26, 2018 at his residence surrounded by his loving family.
James mother was Eloise Jane Smith and father, Franklin. He was born June 7, 1941 in Huntington, WV.
James had retired as a bus driver after working in the telecommunication field. He received an honorably discharged from the Airforce. James will always be remembered as being the life of the party and for his love to make people laugh. He enjoyed fishing, going to the beach, listening to the ocean and music, he also loved to cook. James was a member of Macedonia Church in Pittsburgh where he enjoyed singing in the choir. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge and enjoyed spending most of his day talking with his brother, Frank, on the telephone. He was a very loving and dedicated husband, father, and grandfather.
Surviving is his wife, Diane (Clemons) Smith; children, Gerald Smith and Tenesha Smith; grandchildren, Tahj Smith, Tylan Bridges, and Trinity Smith-Bridges; brothers, Frank (Jameela) Smith, Marlin (Flora) Smith, John Larry Smith, Ronald Thomas; sisters, Nancy Smith, Sheila Meldrum. and numerous nieces and nephews.
James was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Robert Davis, William Smith, Arthur Smith and Thomas McGhee; and sisters, Audrey Ross and Diane Walker.
Friends will be received on Thursday from 10 a.m. to 12p.m. at the John A. Lefdahl Funeral Home with home going service to immediately follow in the Lefdahl Chapel with Pastor Mark Tookes, officiating.
