JC Shaffer

JC Shaffer, 41, of Cherry Tree, passed away Saturday June 6, 2026, with his mom by his side.

JC was born on Tuesday October 2, 1984, in Salem, Oregon and started his life journey non-verbal with autism and cerebral palsy but did not let those words describe who he was, which was courageous, loving, calm, brave, intelligent and the center of our family. We have yet to come across anyone who thought JC was anything but a sweet and loving boy.

He was a proud 2004 graduate of Indiana Area School District who happily participated in Special Olympics and enjoyed doing his group activities out in the community like bowling and swimming.

He enjoyed various things like collecting TV guides, VHS movies, and DVD movies. He had a passion for his school buses, and every day would get them out and run them in their route and name each bus number as they did the loop. Watching TV was his favorite and very rarely did you see him without a remote in his hand unless it was for him to hold a cheeseburger, piece of pizza or his beloved Mt. Dew or Pepsi.

JC is survived by his mom and stepdad Pamm and Drew Stewart of Cherry Tree, Sisters Heather Felton of Indiana, Danielle “Dani Jo” Boston of Clymer, Miranda Mason and brother-n-law Drew Clemmons of Indiana, several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and countless cousins.

JC is preceded in death by his cousin Adam Hinkle, Papa and Grandma Oregon.

The center of our family is gone, and our family will never be whole again.

Family and Friends will be received on Friday June 12, 2026, from 12:00pm until the time of the service at 2:00 PM at the John A. Lefdahl Funeral Home, 898 Old Rt. 119 North, Indiana, PA 15701 will Pastor Dick Motzing officiating.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations to be made directly to the funeral home.
