Ellen Davies

Ellen M. Davies, 85 of Indiana, peacefully passed away on Friday, July3, 2020 at home surrounded by her children and grandchildren.

A daughter of John Nanz and Margaret Stehle Judge, she was born on December 19, 1934 in Pittsburgh, PA.

Ellen was a dedicated mother first and foremost. She cherished her children and was immensely proud of her family.  A loving mother, grandmother, and homemaker; she made her home the gathering place for many family celebrations. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were the light of her life and she never stopped smiling when they came to visit her.  She was a hardworking woman and a dedicated wife to her beloved husband, Chuck.  He proceeded her in death on July 5, 2009 after 55 years of marriage. The family is greatly comforted knowing they are together again in Heaven.  Ellen was a longtime member of St. Bernard of Clairvaux Church and resided at Clairvaux Commons.  She treasured her 50 plus year friendship with Mrs. Barb McKee of Indiana. 

In addition to her husband and parents, she was proceeded in death by her older brother, Donald Stehle, and younger brother and sister, George Nanz and Margaret “Peg” Farren.

Those left to honor her memory are her children, Karen Hixson , of Indiana, Chuck Davies, of Penn Runn, John(Carol) Davies, of Clymer, Kathy Davies, of Indiana, and Beth Novak, of Davenport, Iowa. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Scott, Beth, and Emma Hixson; Kara, Brad, Charlie, and Liam Hefflefinger; Ryan Davies; Brenton Davies; Maria Davies; Paige Davies; Quinn Novak, and numerous nieces and nephews.  Lest we forget, her constant companion and adored cat, Joey. 

In keeping with our mother’s wishes, there will be no public visitation or services.  Funeral arrangements are being handled by the John. L Lefdahl Funeral Home in Indiana. Interment will follow at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies in Bridgeville, PA, where she will be laid to rest with our father.
