Dorothy Idelle (Gifford) Stormer, 94, Indiana, died Sunday, February 23, 2020, while at Indiana Square.
The daughter of James and Bessie (Fuller) Gifford, she was born January 20, 1926 in Knox Township, Jefferson County.
Dorothy was a graduate of Brookville High School, class of 1945. She was employed by Sylvania Products in Brookville and Reynoldsville. Later in life, she retired from Hills Department Store.
Dorothy was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church, the AARP #2581 and Silver Sneakers at the YMCA and a 43-year member of the Tops Club # 300. While in the Tops Club, she traveled to sixteen Top International Conventions with one being in Hawaii. In Dorothy’s’ spare time, she volunteered at St. Andrews Village and was a former AARP line dancer.
Surviving are her sons, Dennis Stormer, Roger Stormer and his wife Linda, and Tom Stormer, all of Indiana; six grandsons, Travis, Luke and his wife Courtney, Andy, Jim and his wife Erin, Brian and his wife Nicole, and Jonathan and his wife Angie; eight great grandchildren, Chase, Brooks, Jordan, Zoey, Abby, Keira, Kayleigh, and Blair; and her two special cats, Snert and Bones.
Preceding Dorothy in death were her parents; husband Leo R. Stormer who died July 12, 2015 and whom she wed October 2, 1946; a great granddaughter, Sidney Pearl Stormer; brothers, Harold and James Gifford; and a sister, Irene Zimmerman.
As per Dorothy’s wishes, funeral arrangements will be private and under the direction of the John A. Lefdahl Funeral Home.
