Deloris “Laurie” Barkley, 74, Indiana, passed away Tuesday, April 14, 2020 at her residence surrounded by her loving family.
The daughter of Charles and Helen (Pinkard) Sadler, she was born June 25, 1945 in Indiana, PA.
Deloris was a member of the Beulah Baptist Church, where she enjoyed singing on the choir and being a part of the Food Ministry. For many years, she served as Judge of Elections for District 4-5 at the Chevy Chase Community Center. Deloris enjoyed sewing, cooking and socializing with her friends. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend.
Surviving are her husband, James Franklin Barkley, Jr.; children, James F. (Melissa) Barkley, III, Indiana, Phebe Barkley, Waldorf, MD, Roxanne Barkley, Camp Springs, MD; siblings, Charles “Sonny” Sadler, Jr., Clarence (Marion) Sadler, Barbara Jean (Harry) Walker, Theodore “Ted” (Angela) Sadler, and Sandy (Marianne) Sadler, all of Indiana; grandchildren, Clayvent Barkley, Indiana, James Barkley, IV, Blairsville, Michael Morgan, Pittsburgh, PA and Brea Morgan, Waldorf, MD; great grandchildren, Carisse Barkley, Aaliyah Barkley, and Cassius Morgan; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Deloris was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Shirley Reeder and brothers, Lawrence and Emmette Sadler.
Funeral arrangements are private and under the direction of the John A. Lefdahl Funeral Home.
Interment in the Oakland Cemetery will be private.
