Delfina McKinney Obituary

Delfina Marie McKinney, 74, Indiana, died peacefully at her home surrounded by her loved ones following a courageous battle with cancer.

The daughter of Antonio and Mary (DePoli) Mondino, she was born May 6, 1947 in New Kensington, PA.

Delfina was a graduate of West Deer High School. She was instrumental in the family businesses “Air East” located in Johnstown and later “Vee Neal Aviation” in Latrobe.

In her free time she liked to collect Penguins, travel and cook. Delfina was especially proud of cooking large Italian dinners for her family.  She was an avid reader.  Most importantly she always placed her family first.

Surviving is her husband of 56 years, Allan McKinney Sr. whom she wed February 19, 1965; children, Allan (Susan) McKinney, Johnstown, Lisa (Kevin) McKinney-Smith, Indiana; grandchildren, Jessica (Stephen) McKinney-Ritter, Brooklyn, NY, and Katharine (Jason) McKinney-Hatrick, Montreal, Canada; a great grandchild, Victoria Ritter, Brooklyn, NY; brother, Joseph (Marion) Mondino, Russellton, PA; and two best friends who helped Delfina during her illness, Harry and Diana Broughton.

Preceding Delfina in death were her parents.

Friends will be received on Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the John A. Lefdahl Funeral Home. A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, 11 a.m. at the Church of the Good Shepard in Kent, which will be open to the public.

Entombment will follow in the Deer Creek Cemetery Mausoleum again open to those who wish to attend.
