Charles Jeffrey Nelson

Charles Jeffrey Nelson, 83, of Indiana, entered the presence of the Lord on Good Friday, April 18th, 2025. He was born on August 4, 1941, in Clearfield. 

Charles was a graduate of Purchase Line High School. In 1971, Charles earned a diploma from International Correspondence Schools in Mathematics and Mechanics for Engineering Technicians. Prior to his retirement, he was a draftsman for the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation.

Charles was a life-long learner, an avid philatelist, and novice astronomer. He read the Bible every day until his sight became diminished. Even then, he coped with his challenges and never complained. 

Charles was preceded in death by his parents, John W. and Elenore J. (Davis) Nelson, Jr. and his aunt, Madalyn Caldwell. He is survived by three siblings: Jack Nelson (Sally McCombie), of Indiana; Pam Nelson of Clymer, PA; Patricia Shaffer (Dave), of Mays Landing, NJ; and a cousin, Margo Caldwell of Charlottesville, VA; six nieces and nephews: Jacqueline Petrovich of Hillsdale, PA; John Nelson (Lisa) of Hillsdale, PA; Jessica Shaffer (Win Allen) of New Gretna, NJ; Corey Shaffer (Ashley) of Absecon, NJ; Dave McCombie (Kelly) of Shelocta, PA; and Danny McCombie (Jill) of Pine Flats, PA; and 16 great-nieces and great-nephews. 

Honoring Charles’s request, there will be no visitation or services held. Internment will take place at Crowncrest Memorial Park, Clearfield.
