Beverly Ann (Rose) Bender, 79, of Indiana PA, beloved wife of Darrell Bender, mother, grandmother and sister, passed away suddenly on June 26, 2026. Born in Pittsburgh on May 21, 1947, she was the daughter of Marie and Wilbur Rose. Beverly graduated in 1965 from Penn Hills Senior High School, and continued her education, graduating from The Lillian S. Kaufmann School of Nursing. She worked as a registered nurse for many years, also putting those skills into practice as a Red Cross First Aid instructor and as a Disaster Relief Nurse. After working for several years at Indiana Hospital, her nursing career went in a different direction when she began working as an international Nurse Consultant for GRASP where she retired in 2016. During these working years, she was also a Girl Scout leader for 9 years.
Beverly enjoyed traveling, and when she and Darrell relocated to the Nevada area, they enjoyed seeing the West and traveling into Canada, where work often took her. She enjoyed spending vacations on Hatteras Island with her siblings, walking the beach. Reading was her passion and when they moved to Indiana, Darrell built her a library with thousands of books, which she enjoyed lending to others. But moving back East to be with her children and grandchildren made her the happiest. Whatever she did in life, it was family that was most important to her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Marie and Wilbur Rose, her daughter-in-law Melissa Bender, and two nephews, Michael Emigh and Matthew Emigh.
She will be deeply missed by her children, Sondra Stipcak (Roger) and Scott Bender; her grandchildren Justin Stipcak (Payton), Austin Stipcak, Alyssa Riley (Ethan), and Cameron Bender, and an expected great-granddaughter; and her siblings, Linda DaMert (Gary), William Rose (Mary Jo) Richard Rose (Lynne), Patricia Henry (Allan), Carolyn Monheim (Daniel). She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and friends who became family.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, July 10th at from 9:00am until the time of service at10:00am at the John A Lefdahl Funeral Home in Indiana, PA.
