Alex Taddie Obituary

Alex Taddie, 95, of Homer City, passed away comfortably and quietly at home with his loving wife MaryAnn and son John by his side.

He served honorably with the US Navy during the Korean War.  A life-long resident of Homer City, he was referred to as “Our Friendly Mailman” by many of the locals who knew him well, braving the elements for 29 years on his 15-mile per day walking route, leather mailbag over his shoulder.

“Big Al” was an avid fisherman for many years and, up until his last few months, could frequently be seen by neighbors meticulously landscaping his lawn and surrounding shrubbery.  He also enjoyed grocery shopping, washing his car, and watching the Pittsburgh Pirates and any televised tennis event.  His greatest joy, however, was visiting with family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Alex was preceded in death by his mother, Mary (Capitosti), father Antonio Taddie, sister Joanne (Gullace), and brothers Joe and John.  He will be fondly remembered by MaryAnn, sons Tim (Cheryl) of Homer City, Jeff (Ann) of Crandall Texas, John of Homer City, and daughter Julie of Kittanning; grandchildren Kristen (Mat DiMond) of Cheshire, CT, Michelle (Lucas Man) of Burlington, CT, Alyssa (Eric Peroli) of Cranberry Township, Brent Taddie of Crandall Texas, and great-grandchildren Noelle and Charlotte DiMond, Daphne and Linus Man, and Alex and Gino Peroli.

Alex had a very happy life, left us with countless memories, and will be deeply missed.  May he now find his peace.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the John A. Lefdahl Funeral Home of Indiana.
