Alan Russell Stokes

Alan R. Stokes age 78, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 11, 2023, at his family home in Ernest, PA

Alan is the son of Arthur Henry Stokes and Mildred (Williams) Stokes. Alan was born on April 16th, 1945 in Martinsburg, WV.

Alan was a graduate of Indiana Area High School, Class of 1963. Alan was employed for 36 years with FMC Corp. retiring in 2007. Alan enjoyed sitting by an open campfire with his family and friends and enjoyed camping, woodworking, gardening, attending local car shows and restoring his antique vehicle a 1975 Mercury Comet. Alan was also a "die-hard" Pittsburgh Steelers fan. Alan will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother who was always there for his family and friends.

Surviving is Alan's wife Polly (Gruda) Stokes of 58 years and his children, Alan A (Yvonne) Stokes, Wendy (Scott) MacMillen, Jeffrey Stokes, Susan (Scott) Lowry, Marcie Stokes. Also surviving are seventeen grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; his sister, Pamela Stokes of Elderton, PA and sister-in-law, Janet Stokes of Indiana, PA

Preceding Alan in death were his parents; grandson Lukas; brothers, David, Edgar and Arthur “Chub” Stokes.

Friends will be received on Wednesday, June 14th 2023 from 4 to 6 pm at the John A Lefdahl Funeral Home in Indiana, PA. A private viewing for the family will be held Thursday morning, June 15th 2023 from 10 to 11 a.m. Funeral services for  family and friends will immediately follow in the Lefdahl Chapel with Rev. William Blair, officiating.

Interment will follow the services at the Greenwood Cemetery; Garden of Prayers section.
