Alan "Lee" Carnahan

Alan “Lee” Carnahan, son of Adam Paul Carnahan and Helen Mary (Yoho) Carnahan, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, at his home near Creekside.  

Lee was born in Pittsburgh on April 20, 1945. He was of the Protestant faith. Following graduation from Marion Center Area High School, he attended Warren Wilson College in Asheville, NC. Upon graduation, he served for two years in the Army. He then enrolled at IUP and graduated with degrees in English and history. Initially employed in Indiana and Greensburg by GC Murphy and Company, he retired from employment with the Riverside Grocery Store, Inc.  

He was an avid reader; enjoyed watching Antiques Roadshow; and had a vast knowledge of movie history and trivia.

Lee will be missed by niece Patti Bothel Gahagan and her children, Andrew Gahagan, Michael Gahagan, Katelynn Rowe, and their families; niece Paula Bothel Witherow (John) and their daughter, Jennifer; nephew Terry Bothel (Joanna) and their children, Ashley Gallo, Shane Bothel, Tyler Bothel, and their families; niece Susanne Carnahan McKendrick (Timothy) and their children, James, Suzette, Tamara, Tabitha, and their families; nephew Greg Carnahan (Karen); and niece Lucy Bothel (Scott, deceased).

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Dorothy I. (Carnahan) Bothel; brother, David L. Carnahan; nephew, Scott E. Bothel; and Infant nephew David L. Carnahan, Jr.

The family gives special thanks to neighbors David, Tracy, Sadie and Isaac Juart, and Bill McIntire for the friendship, kindness, and help they provided to Lee over the years.

At Lee’s request, there will be no viewing. A memorial service will be planned at a later date at the convenience of the family.
