Penelope Elling Putt, 74, Indiana, passed away Thursday, April 12, 2018 while at Beacon Ridge Nursing Home.
The daughter of Harvey “Duke” and Thelma (Haney) Elling, she was born March 13, 1944 in Indiana, PA.
Penelope was employed by NASA as a personal secretary to three of the original astronauts. She was employed by Specialty Tires of America for 43 years. Penelope also worked at All That Jazz Dance Studio where she was employed to assist her daughter’s dance career. She was a member of the Slovak Club in Clymer, Elks and Eagles in Indiana, and the Junior Women’s Civic Club. Penelope liked to go bowling in her spare time.
Surviving is her husband, William L. Putt, Indiana; daughter, Gretchen (Robert) Anderson, Indiana, stepchildren, Jesse (Traci) Putt, Clearwater, FL, Mona (Dave) Straw, Indiana, and Jeff (Chrissy) Putt, Indiana; grandchildren, Jonah, Sarah, Emily, Andrew and Isaac Anderson, step-grandchildren, Wilson and Ryder Putt, Jenna and Morgan Straw, Owen Carter, Davis, and AJ Putt; great-grandchild, John David Scott; niece, Kimberly (Charles) McHugh, Pittsburgh; and nephew, Shawn (Sharon) Zysk, Pittsburgh.
Penelope was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Bonnie Zysk; and a nephew, Brian Zysk.
A Memorial Service will be conducted at a later date. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the John A. Lefdahl Funeral Home.
