John “Sonny” Wincek, 79, Homer City, died Tuesday, November 7, 2017 at his residence.

The son of Henry and Elizabeth (Benamati) Wincek, he was born August 24, 1938 in Coral, Pa.

Surviving is his wife, Jennie (Sontag) Wincek, Homer City; children, James (Laurie) Wincek, Millstone, NJ, Beth (Randy) Maday, Alexandria, VA, Ronald (Dawn) Wincek, State College, PA, and Rick Wincek, Dunkirk, MD; grandchildren, Jenna Beth Wincek, Luke and Adrienne Maday, Courteney Rager, and Amber, Madison, and Hayley Wincek; great-grandchildren, Grace Maday, and Kenzie and Cory Rager; a brother, Ronald (Debbie) Wincek, Clymer; and four nieces and 1 nephew.

Preceding Sonny in death were his parents and a grandson, Cory Wincek.

A private memorial service will be conducted at a later date.

The John A. Lefdahl Funeral, Indiana has been entrusted with arrangements.

The family would like to offer special thanks to VNA Hospice, UPMC Cancer Center, and Indiana Regional Medical Center.
