James R. Sprankle, 75, of Indiana, passed away on April 8, 2019 at IRMC. He was born in Indiana, PA on November 7, 1943 to Alice (Goss) Sprankle and Robert M. Sprankle.
Jim worked in masonry and general construction for most of his career and retired from IUP in 2001. He loved the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing, and he was an avid Penguins, Steelers, and Pirates Fan. Jim also liked doing wood carvings, making leather items, and refinishing gun stocks.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years Joyce (Morgan) Sprankle and their children Robert M. Sprankle, of Mentcle, PA; James V. Sprankle (Cheri), of Indiana, PA; Dane W. Sprankle (Tracy), of Gallitzin, PA; and Kimberly J. Clever (companion Don Booher), of Natrona Heights, PA; Grandchildren Stephanie Pelosi (Lib), Michele Sprankle (fiancée Bob Hoover), Kayla Sprankle, Tyler Sprankle, Zachary Sprankle, Nathan Sprankle, Mark Hill Jr., and Matthew Hill; Six great-grandchildren; Siblings Donna Smith (Bill) of Chambersville, PA; Thomas E. Sprankle, who resides with Jim and Joyce; and stepbrother Clarence Davis. Preceding him in death were his parents Alice and Robert Sprankle, his stepfather David Davis, and his paternal and maternal grandparents.
He was a very devoted and caring husband and father with a great sense of humor. He cared deeply about his family and was always there, day or night, for help or guidance. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
As per Jim’s request, funeral arrangements were private and under the direction of the John A. Lefdahl Funeral Home.
