Homer Lorance Byers, 93, Indiana, passed away Monday, December 4, 2017 while at St. Andrew’s Village, Indiana.

The son of Earl and Geraldine Byers, he was born December 26, 1923 in Rayne Township, PA.

Homer was a member of the First Christian Church, Indiana and a World War II Army Veteran.  He loved gardening, dogs, and feeding the birds.  Homer will be remembered as a wonderful man, loving husband, father, and grandfather who cherished time with his grandchildren. 

Surviving is his wife, Dorothy Stewart, Indiana; children, Edgar (Jeannette) Byers, Indiana and Cynthia (William) Chervenak, Indiana; grandchildren, Robert George, Homer City, Jaime (Richard) Zaliznock, Carrolltown, Miranda (David) Frazer, Ellwood City, Nicholas Chervenak, Pittsburgh, and Matthew Byers, Blairsville; 6 great-grandchildren, Loryn, Richard “Sammy”, Nicholas, Elizabeth, Sarah, and Mary; and a sister, Irene.

Homer was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Lynda Young; and sisters, Naomi Ramsell and Clara Davis.

Friends will be received on Thursday, December 7, 2017 from 1 to 4 p.m. at the John A. Lefdahl Funeral Home, Indiana.  A funeral service will immediately follow in the Lefdahl Chapel with Pastor Jerry Hoch, officiating.

Interment in the Oakland Cemetery will be private.
