George V. Zayac (Rabbits) 76, Homer City, died Friday, April 5, 2019 while at Indiana Regional Medical Center.
The son of Joseph and Veronica Zayac (Rabbits), he was born July 4, 1942 in Waterman, PA.
George was employed as a farmer and then as a coal miner for over twenty years.
He was a member of the UMWA and past President of his Local 1619. George was also a life time member and President of the Tide Sportsman Club. Tide Sportsman Club was a hugh part of George’s life as was gardening, and canning. He loved cutting wood and offered his help to anyone in need of assistance. He would often be seen driving his truck with his dog, Shelby, on his lap.
Surviving is his sweetheart and wife, Janet (Dies) Zayac whom he wed January 18 1964; children, Tracy (David) Metalla, Homer City, George Zayac Jr., Coral, and Timothy (Karen) Zayac, Homer City; nine grandchildren, Shauna, Lisa, Amber, Amanda, Jonathon, Robert, Timmy, Jonathon, and Allan; four great grandchildren, Jamison, Colton, Adrian, and Ava; sisters, Lillian (Tony) Mouser, McIntyre, Patricia (Bob) Rayhart, Carlisle, and Kathy (Rich) Cessna, Indiana; brothers, John (Becky) Zayac, Ohio, Stephen Zayac, Murrysville, and Robert (Barb) Zayac, Waterman.
Preceding George in death were his parents; sister, Betty Hedges and a brother, Joseph Zayac Jr.
Friends will be received on Tuesday from 2 to 6 pm at the John A. Lefdahl Funeral Home. Funeral service will immediately follow in the Lefdahl Chapel.
Internment in the Greenwood Cemetery will be private.
