Frances “Fran” (Rummell) Nelson, age 83, Ephrata, PA, formerly of Apollo passed away on Tuesday, January 14, 2020 while at Keystone Villas, Ephrata, PA.
The daughter of Margaret (Potts) Hagerty and Ansley Rummell, she was born 1936 in Washington Township, Indiana County.
Fran retired from the Indiana University of Pennsylvania where she was employed in the Food Service Department. Her interests included gardening, reading, and collecting tea pots and tea cups. Fran found pleasure from traveling and spending time at the beach and especially spending time at her daughter’s farm in the mountains, which she and her husband dubbed the “Ponderosa.” Fran loved spending time with her grandsons and their families.
Surviving is her daughter, Debra “Caylor” Popolis and her husband, Steve of Ephrata; two grandsons, Jeremy Popolis and his wife, Chaleace of Denver, Pa and Justin Popolis and his wife, Shannon of Akron, PA; seven greatgrandchildren, Bryce, Ethan, Brynne, Hannah, Talen, Hunter, and Breck; and a sister, Agnes Wells, Home.
Preceding Fran in death were her parents; husband, James “Pork Chop” Nelson; and brother, Alvin “Buddy” Rummell.
Friends will be received on Friday from 1 to 3 p.m. at the John A. Lefdahl Funeral Home, Indiana. A funeral service will immediately follow in the Lefdahl Chapel with Rev. Micah McMillen, officiating.
Interment in the Concord Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Dayton, PA will be private.
