Floyd Russell Spence, 91, Indiana, died Friday, October 5, 2018, at St. Andrews Village.
The son of Russell C. and Gladys (Johnston) Spence, he was born May 21, 1927 in Wilkinsburg, PA.
Floyd was a 1945 graduate of Indiana High School. He was employed many years as an auto mechanic for McGregor Motors. He served in the Coast Guard during WWII. Floyd was a member of the Center Presbyterian Church, Creekside, where he taught Sunday school and was an Elder. Floyd had many interests and in his free time enjoyed hunting, fishing, and belonged to the Indiana Ball Room Dance Club, and also to Knotty Pines square dancing. He also liked photography and was a member at one time of the Indiana Photo Club.
Surviving is his wife, Ruth (Wagner) Spence, whom he wed November 8, 1950; children, John Dudley (Janet) Spence, Louisville, KY, Janet (Bob) Bowers, West Palm Beach, FL, Larry Mark (Christine) Spence, Ashburn VA, and Daniel Thomas (Kim) Spence, Berwick, PA; seven grandchildren; seven greatgrandchildren; and a sister, Doris (Neal) McGinnis, Indiana.
Preceding Floyd in death were his parents.
Friends will be received on Monday from 3 to 8 pm at the John A. Lefdahl Funeral Home, Indiana. Funeral service will be conducted Tuesday morning, 11 am, in the Lefdahl Chapel.
Entombment in the Oakland Cemetery will be private.
