Eileen Elenor Ward, 81, Homer City passed away Friday, August 10, 2018 while at Beacon Ridge Care Center.
The daughter of Raymond and Ingeborg (Sjoquist) Atwood, she was born January 18, 1937 in Tolley, ND.
Eileen took business courses at Minot State Teacher’s College in Minot, ND. She had been employed by the Homer City State Bank for approximately 10 years and S&T Bank for 20 years as a loan document specialist. Eileen was a member of the Grove Chapel Lutheran Church for 43 years and served as treasurer for 26 years. She loved to bake and cook. She'd be the first person to provide meals and desserts to those in times of need. Her hobbies included gardening, crocheting, stained glass work, reading, swimming, crossword puzzles, and Scrabble. Eileen was an avid bowler for many years. She loved traveling with family and friends. Many trips were made in the motor home to campsites and the annual family reunion in North Dakota. Eileen also enjoyed bus trips through Repine Travel to various locales.
Eileen is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Ernest M. Ward; son, Michael Ward; sisters, Lela Peterson and Glee Grau; brothers, Raymond and Larry Atwood; and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding Eileen in death were her parents; brothers, Dale, Justin and Jerry; a sister, June; and brother-in-laws, Wayne, Albert and Roger.
She will be missed by all, including a loyal little companion of 13 years, her Maltese dog, Angel.
Friends will be received on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the John A. Lefdahl Funeral Home, Indiana. An additional hour of viewing will be held on Friday morning from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Grove Chapel Lutheran Church with funeral service to immediately follow.
Interment will be in the Grove Chapel Lutheran Church Cemetery.
