She graduated from High School and then obtained a teaching certificate. She was an accomplished elementary school teacher and also worked for Blue Cross Blue Shield for a time.

Barbara met Jack Curtis Hammett (1916-1987) at the Little Rock Baptist Young Peoples’ Union and they were married from 1936 until his death. They were both active members of Immanuel Baptist Church in Little Rock. Barbara will be remembered as a devout Christian and a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.

Barbara was predeceased by her daughter-in-law, Carol A. Hammett (1939-2000). She is survived by her only child, Jack C. Hammett, Jr. (Sharon), of Paeonian Springs, VA, her two grand-daughters, Laura K. Millard (Charles B.) of Frederick, MD, and Lisa Hammett Price (Jon) of Indiana, PA. She was beloved great-grandmother of Joshua C. Price, Caleb L. Price and Charles Brian Millard. Barbara will be greatly missed by Deb, Carrie, Mary, Lois and other staff at Rustic Manor Personal Care Home, who lovingly cared for her for over eight years. The family would also like to thank Clymer Family Medicine and VNA Hospice.

There will be no visitation. Internment will be at Roselawn Memorial Park in Little Rock, Arkansas. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Immanuel Baptist Church.
