Douglass Stiffler Obituary

Douglass R Stiffler, 81, of Indiana passed away on Thursday March 21, 2024, at the Community of Indian Haven Personal Care Home.

He was born on April 7, 1942, to Herschell and Mary (Learn) Stiffler of Coal Run.

Doug was Vietnam Veteran and a retired Master Gunnery Sergeant after 23 years of service to the United States Marine Corp. He served at the American Embassy in Nicosia Cyprus and at Camp Lejeune. He was very active with the Veterans and Service men of Indiana County and in 2002 was presented with the honor of Veteran of the year and served as District Deputy of The American Legion. Douglass was also a member of the Indiana-Franklin MasonicLodge#313, Rolling Thunder Motorcycle Club, Indiana Elks Lodge #203, Indiana Faternal Order of the Eagles #1468, Sons of Italy, American Legion Post#493, Indiana VFW Post 1989.

The Family would like to thank the Cancer Center Nursing staff, IRMC 6TH Floor Nurses, Indian Haven staff, Visiting Nurses and Citizens Ambulance.

He is survived by his sister Patricia Ramsey (Bob) Brother David Randall Stiffler (Kathy) Nieces and nephews, Beth Ann Millen (Thomas), Eric Stiffler (Deborah), Lynne Bosley (Gary), Zachary Stiffler (Angharad). Great nieces and Nephews Mara Hazelett (Paul), Alyssa Gilland (Tanner), Kayla Bosley, Branden Bosley (Erin), Daniel Millen, Magdalena Stiffler, Ava Stiffler.

He is preceded in death by his parents, brother James Stiffler, Sister-In-Law Ann Stiffler and Nephew Jeffrey Stiffler.

Friends will be received on Saturday April 6th, 2024, from 10 to until the time of the service at 11 am at Grace Church of Indiana, 712 Church Street. Indiana PA 15701, Rev Kathy Mihoerrck officiating. The Indiana-Franklin Masonic Lodge will have a masonic service at 10:45 am.

Interment will take place at Greenwood Cemetery. Military honors will be performed by the Indiana VFW Post #1989.

In lieu of Flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Disabled American Veterans, 1000 Liberty Ave Room 1606 Pittsburgh PA 15222
