William Edward Harris, 87, Williamstown, NJ (formerly of Indiana, PA) passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 1, 2018, while at the Indiana Regional Medical Center.
William, the son of Edward James and Mary E. (Barkley) Harris, was born January 21, 1931, in Indiana, PA.
Known to his friends as Bill, he graduated from Indiana Area High School. He received a LPN degree from Sacred Heart School of Nursing, and an anesthesiologist assistant certification from Jefferson Medical College. He was employed by the University of Pennsylvania Hospital in Philadelphia, Pa. where he worked for 31 years until his retirement.
Prior to his nursing career, Bill was employed by Bethlehem Steel Mill, United Airlines, and Torrence State Hospital.
He was a 4th Degree Knight serving as Trustee for the Damiano Assembly in Williamstown, NJ.
Surviving is his sister, Birttie (Gerald) Clemons and four generations of nieces and nephews.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, John, Walter, Robert, Eugene, and Philip; three sisters, Marva, Yolonda, and Elizabeth Carol; and a very close friend, Robert Richards.
Friends will be received on Tuesday from 10 am to 1 pm at the John A. Lefdahl Funeral Home, Indiana. Funeral service will immediately follow in the Lefdahl Chapel with Rev. David Hanson, officiating. Interment will follow in the Oakland Cemetery.
