Ronald Eugene Shields, 67, Creekside, passed away Sunday, January 28, 2018 at his residence.
The son of Larry and Margaret (Johnston) Shields, he was born July 23, 1950 in Punxsutawney, PA.
Ron was employed for 34 years at Bell Telephone as an installer. He was a member of the Plum Creek Valley Long Rifles and Harmony Grove Lutheran Church, where he served on council and the property committee. Ron was a lifetime member of the Creekside Volunteer Fire Department. Ron will be remembered as a loving husband, father, and grandfather who dearly loved his grandchildren.
Ron is survived by his mother; wife, Darlene (Roof) Shields; children, Brian (Leah) Shields, Kevin (Mariha) Shields, Melissa (Billy) Davis, and Jessica Shields; 14 grandchildren; two brothers, Denny (Grace) Shields and Gary (Marie) Shields; a sister, Linda LaVan; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceding Ron in death was his father and mother and father-in-law, Paul and Lillian Roof.
Friends will be received on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the John A. Lefdahl Funeral Home. A military service will be conducted by VFW Post 1989 on Wednesday at 3p.m. An additional hour of visitation will be held on Thursday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Harmony Grove Lutheran Church, Willet. A funeral service will immediately follow with Rev. Dave Wasemann, officiating.
Interment in the Harmony Grove Lutheran Cemetery will follow.
