Ronald “Spirit” Paul Hoover, 59, Indiana, died Monday, October 16, 2017, at his residence.

The son of H. Paul and Mary Emma (Braunns) Hoover, he was born November 25, 1957 in Punxsutawney, Pa.

Spirit was employed by Frank Maudie Excavating and Hauling. In his spare time, he could be found tinkering with his lawn tractor.

Spirit will be remembered as a loving son, husband, father and grandfather who was affectionately named “Poppy” by his grandchildren.

Surviving is his mother, Mary Emma Hoover, Valier, wife, Cynthia Lee (Eddinger) Hoover, Indiana; daughters, Vanessa L. (Rob) Laurnoff, Chestertown, MD, and Melissa Hoover, Homer City; grandchildren, Savannah, Camden and Sawyer Laurnoff, Chestertown, MD, and Dakota Robinson, Homer City; a brother, Bruce Hoover, Valier.

Preceding Spirit in death was his father.

Friends will be received on Thursday from 5 to 7 pm at the John A. Lefdahl Funeral Home, Indiana.

Funeral service will immediately follow at 7 pm in the Lefdahl Chapel with Rev. Micah McMillen, officiating.

Interment in the Greenwood Cemetery will be private.
