Mary Ann (Lella) Yacovone, 73, of Creekside, PA, passed away December 20, 2016 with her loving family by her side. 

Born April 28th, 1943 in Cortland NY, she was the daughter of Harry and Lucy (Ferro) Lella.

Mary was a loving mother and homemaker living in Creekside since 1980. She graduated from Cortland Jr. Sr. High School in June, 1962.  She then completed a course in Cosmetology from the Beaux Arts Schools of Beauty in Syracuse N.Y. in 1963, and worked in that field until 1970.  From that time she became a full time homemaker.

She came to Creekside with her family after a short stay in West Virginia, in 1980.  She was a longtime volunteer at local schools, and Special Olympics.  She loved children, and provided care for many of the local children.  Her passion was cooking, and never tired of trying new recipes, and new gadgets for the kitchen.  She was known as the cookie lady for supplying the treats on tree plantings with the Pa. Sr. Environmental Corps and the Evergreen Conservancy.

She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Paul; sons, John Yacovone and special friend Barb Evans of Greencastle, PA, and Peter Yacovone and wife Linda of Ernest PA, and their children Chelsi and Jeremy; and twin brother, John “Charley” Lella and his wife Jeanne of Ronova Park California, and special niece and nephew, Chris and Michel Lella of Cortland, NY.   She will be sadly missed by Ashly States, Josh Marshal, and Lindsey Marshal and Marty Stuchel.

She was preceded in passing by her parents and an older brother Charlie Lella.

Friends will be received on Friday from 12 to 1 p.m. at the John A. Lefdahl Funeral Home.  A Memorial Service will be held at 1 p.m. in the Lefdahl Chapel with Father Anthony Klimko, officiating.
