Freda Lucille Longwell, 87, Indiana, passed away Saturday, September 10, 2016, at Beacon Ridge Skilled Nursing Facility.

The daughter of Claude and Ellen (Chind) Strickland, she was born May 29, 1929 in Indiana, PA.

Lucille was a lifelong resident of Indiana County and was raised in Dixonville. She was a 1948 graduate of Green Township High School in Commodore. Lucille attended Two Lick Baptist Church from her childhood until 1998 and taught Sunday school for many years. Lucille later attended Bethany Chapel in Marion Center, and Grace Bible Chapel in Blacklick. Her interests included sewing, crocheting, traveling, and reading the Bible.

Surviving is her daughter Lois Erickson and her husband, Marvin “Bud” Jr.; sisters, Dorothy (Bob) Wilson, Home, sisters in law, Betty Strickland, Warren, OH, and Thelma Longwell, Elderton; four nieces and five nephews.

Lucille was preceded in death by her parents; husband, George T. “Punkin” Longwell, whom she wed July 3rd, 1948; brothers, Eugene and Donald; and brother-in-law, Franklin Longwell.

Friends will be received on Wednesday from 12 to 3 and  6 to 9  pm at the John A Lefdahl Funeral Home, Indiana. An additional hour of visitation will be held from 10 to 11 am Thursday morning with funeral service to immediately follow in the Lefdahl Chapel with Pastor John Johnson, officiating.

Interment will follow in the Greenwood Cemetery.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Beacon Ridge for the excellent care Lucille received while residing there and also the individuals from AseraCare Hospice for their support during the past several months.
