Clyde L. Wells Sr.

Clyde Laverne Wells Sr., 90,  Indiana, died August 3, 2017 at the Communities at Indian Haven.

The son of Earl and Bertha (Ashbaugh) Wells, he was born May 10, 1927, in Armstrong County.

Mr. Wells was employed many years as a carpenter in the tristate area and was employed by Ryan Homes. Mr. Wells then went on to open his own business, “C.L. Wells and Sons” and went on to construct many homes in the area.

Later, Clyde pursued his love of horses and opened a riding stable. He expanded his dream and purchased racing horses and raced them in the fair circuit. Later in his life he again put his carpentry skills to use and built well-crafted furniture for Yoders’ store in Smicksburg. As a hobby, Clyde would enjoy collecting Indian Art.

Clyde will be not only remembered as an excellent carpenter but as a loving and wonderful husband, father, and grandfather and great grandfather.

Surviving is his wife of 45 years, Dolores (Little) Wells; sons, Clyde (Sonny) Wells Jr. and his wife, Jill, Clearwater, FL., Randy Wells and wife Marilyn “Micki” Wells, Middletown, Pa; step children, Terry Ronald Thompson and wife Delores “Dorie” Thompson, Oliveburg, PA, David Thompson and his significant other Roxanne Hillyer, Marion Center, Dianna Lydic, Marion Center, and Tammy Barnoff and husband Luke, Rochester Mills; eleven grandchildren including special grandchildren Arista Barnoff and Erica Connell; fifteen great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Preceding Mr. Wells in death were his parents; son, Ricky Wells; granddaughter, Jennifer Lydic; step daughter, Debra Hodak; and sisters, Violet, Ruby, Louella, Elsie, and Donna; son-in-law, James Lydic; sister-in-law, Cathy Thompson

Friends are invited to gather on Sunday, from 3 to 6 pm at the John A. Lefdahl Funeral Home, Indiana. A Memorial service will immediately follow at 6 pm in the Lefdahl Chapel will Rev. Thomas Spiker and JD Varner, officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the John A. Lefdahl Funeral Home to assist with funeral expenses.
