Alta Marie (Lydick) Watson passed away on January 5, 2017 at the University of Tennessee Medical Center.

Born on January 20, 1920, she was the daughter of Milton Crawford Lydick and Nettie Alice (Waltermire) Lydick.  Alta was happily married to James Richard Watson for twenty-three years before he passed away in 1965. Alta and James had 4 children, Mary Alice Watson Stormer  of Watauga TX, Clifford Carl Watson ( wife Peggy Sink Watson) of Knoxville TN, Barry Lynn Watson ( wife Judy Isenberg Watson) of Indiana PA ,  and Richard Douglas Watson ( wife Betty Ann Allison Watson), also of Indiana PA.

She is survived by her children and grandchildren, Ronald Suman and wife Denise of Austin TX, James Watson and wife Tiffanie of Walker LA, Brian Watson of Knoxville TN, Tammy Fogle and husband Bob, and Heidi Watson of Indiana PA.  Also great-grandchildren, Emily Erwin, Madeline Watson, Ilea Watson, Olivia Fogle, Lucy Suman and Elise Suman.  She is also survived by a number of nieces and nephews and their families.

Alta was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Louise Lydick and brothers Ernest Lydick and John Lydick and their spouses.

She grew up in the Diamondville-Starford area and worked at the WPA in 1942. She then worked at Paragon in Indiana PA until 1945. Alta and James proudly owned the Watson Service Station on Rte. 286, west of Clymer for 19 ½ years until James’ death in 1965. Alta was truly a people person and hard worker. She worked at Rolling Green Acres dairy store, Andy’s Market, Hills, and was a demonstrator for In-Store Sampling Demonstration Services and Supermarket Sampling around the Indiana area while raising her children.  She enjoyed her friends from the Glen Oaks apartments and the Indiana area.

She had recently moved to Knoxville, Tennessee to live with her son and daughter-in-law.

Alta’s family would like to thank her neighbors and friends at Glen Oaks and Dr. Matthew Klain and his staff for their loving care over the years. They would also like to thank the staffs of the UT Medical Center Emergency and Trauma-Surgical Intensive Care Unit and 5-East floors for their compassionate care.

Alta loved flowers and would also encourage everyone to hug their parents.

Friends will be received Wednesday 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 at the John A. Lefdahl Funeral Home, Indiana Pa. Funeral service will be conducted Thursday, 1 pm, in the Lefdahl Chapel with interment to follow in the Greenwood Cemetery.
